You can donate a new or gently used coat at any Albano’s Cleaners, Hampton Roads Honda, First Advantage Federal Credit Union, Johns Brothers Security and Planet Fitness locations in Gloucester and Elizabeth City.

10 On Your Side Coats for Families campaign collects, cleans and distributes new and gently used coats from the Southside to the Peninsula November 3, 2018 - January 20, 2019. Coats for Families is fueled by the warm hearts of 10 On Your Side’s long-time partners Albano’s Cleaners. Albano’s Cleaners’ main headquarters in Norfolk ensures EVERY gently used coat is cleaned from Southside to the Peninsula. After cleaning, the coats are delivered to 10 On Your Side distribution partners by Harrison’s Moving & Storage and the Hiram Lodge.

The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command will be distributing coats on an ongoing basis throughout the months of December and January at our Area Command office.

Those in need of warmth are welcome to pick up a coat/jacket in our Social Services department during the time of our food pantry, which is Monday-Friday from 1pm – 3pm.

With over 400 homeless men, women and children in our shelters every day and hundreds more receiving services in our day centers the need for warm winter clothing is great. Many people come to the Mission with just the clothes on their backs. We give them food, toiletries, a place to shower, clean clothing and a bed to sleep in as well as offer job and life skills training to overcome their homelessness. As the weather gets cold we distribute coats and other warm clothing on an as needed basis.

For those not staying in our shelters who need coats, please make an appointment.

The HER Shelter will be distributing coats to families in need served by HER Shelter.
Contact: Erika Compliment 757-485-1073 with the number of coats needed, size of coats needed, and a good daytime phone number where you can be reached so you can be contacted when your coats are ready.
The JCOC will distribute coats during the winter months to clients in our various housing programs as well as to members of the community in need who attend our community dinner and food pantry. Individuals in need of a coat who are not part of these programs can visit JCOC’s main office Monday-Friday between 9am - 12:00pm and 1pm – 4pm.
