We did not warm up yesterday.Temps were in the mid-upper 50s in the morning, and they barely changed going into the afternoon. Thickening clouds and the northeast breeze caused that.
Today will be different.
We started with some low clouds and fog. However, they are already both starting to break up. We’ll have clearing skies today with warming temperatures. A warm front is lifting to our north.
We’ll be back in the warm zone today. Winds will be out of the southwest at a steady 5-15mph. Temperatures will warm up to the mid 80s. We might even hit a few upper 80s.
There may be some isolated showers north of Hampton Roads, but there shouldn’t be too many of those. By tonight, a cool front will slip south into the region for a time. The models are split on where this will stall out.
Some of them have it moving into the Hampton Roads metro and lingering there through tomorrow morning. Some other models (like Future Trak) have the front stalling out north of the metro, and then moving back north as a warm front tomorrow. If the front does drop south tonight into Hampton Roads, then there may be a few showers and storms dropping in as well.
Regardless of where the front lands, tomorrow we will be warm again.
We’ll have partly cloudy skies and more southerly winds (developing). High temps will be in the 80s. If the front is more southerly, then we’ll land in the low-mid 80s. With a more northerly pause, then we will rise to the upper 80s. By
Thursday, we’ll have a simpler forecast. Skies will be partly sunny. High temperatures will rise to the upper 80s. We may even hit 90 degrees. While that won’t break the record, it will be about 15-20 degrees above average.
We’ll stay warm on Friday with partly cloudy skies. Then we’ll have more clouds, scattered showers, and slightly cooler temps over the weekend. I’ll have more details on the chance for rain over the weekend in tomorrow’s weather blog. Stay tuned.
