I’ve always heard the saying, “time flies,” and realized it has never applied to me until now. This internship has flown so fast it’s almost hard to believe I have learned everything I have in such a short amount of time. I have learned the whole entire sales process from beginning to end, and everything in between. I have learned about digital advertising, broadcast and even some radio. Over these past three months, I have had experiences I would have never gotten if it weren’t for this internship. I have had the experience to cold call, meet with potential clients, create proposals, and actually see how Wavy’s brand can help small businesses.
And, I had the experience to be on a live set for the Hampton Roads Show at the Mayflower Marathon. I had the opportunity to be a field producer for a day and walk in the shoes of a real producer. I had a first hand experience of the stress and fulfillment that a producer feels. I had the opportunity to be in charge of a segment during the show and my responsibilities were to get the guests ready, get the scripts to the hosts, and run the microphones before they are on air. After this experience, I have a new found respect for all the producers out there.
Having this internship experience has been life-changing. It has given me real life experience that makes me feel more confident as I enter the real work world. Being able to work with the sales team at Wavy is one of the best experiences I have ever had and I will remember it for a life time.
