That’s it. It’s over. I just walked out of the Wavy Newsroom for the very last time as an intern. This internship means more to me than I can put into words. I am beyond blessed for all the experience this internship given me and I am so sad to leave everyone at the station. I will miss how genuine, kind, and compelling everyone is and how willing they are to help ALL the interns. The amazing conversations, connections and opportunities are something I will take with me forever.
Not only did this internship give me experience I could have only dreamed up, it gave me life lessons that I will take with me wherever I go. It helped me identify who I am and who I will be after college. Defining my new passion is my biggest take away from this entire internship. I had no idea producing would have been my career choice instead of reporting/anchoring. Because of Wavy, I now know where my heart belongs after school and I am forever grateful for that.
Every person at the station has impacted my life in more ways than one. From all the anchors, reporters, producers, sales department and promotions… everyone left a mark on my heart. I will remain in contact with the ones I was closest with and became friends with.
Not only was the staff at Wavy amazing, but also all the interns. It was super fun to see other millennials that were just as passionate as me in the newsroom. Seeing certain interns get hired right out of the internship is one of the greatest things and that made me so happy for them! I cannot wait to see where we all end up because let me tell you, we were an awesome group. They all have a crazy amount of potential and they will leave a huge mark on the world.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much Wavy and staff for everything this internship has given me. I have connections for a lifetime and this is only the beginning. I hope to be back at Wavy in a year or two. Until then, best of luck to all my fellow interns. I cannot wait to see how successful we all will be.
