This summer has been flying by. It is crazy to think that it is already half way through July and more than half way through my internship. Every day I try to learn something new and gain experience in some way.
This past week I went on a shoot with Symone at Blue Bird Gap Farm in Hampton. We were there shooting for Discovering Hampton Roads in 60 Seconds. I had never been there or heard of this place so I had no idea what to expect. When we got there I could already imagine all the great shots that I could catch to help make the farm experience come to life for viewers. There were so many different types of animals. Also, the opportunity to feed a lot of the animals. Some of the best shots were of Symone feeding llamas and emus. Another one of my favorite shots was her stand-up intro where she was standing next to a cow. Of course, I also got to to have some fun and feed some goats and pet a cow.
Accompanying Symone to shoot for Discovering Hampton Roads in 60 Seconds has become one of my favorite parts of my internship. I get to shoot B-roll and get shots of Symone posing or doing activities. Every week I try and contribute ideas about a kind of shot I think should be captured.
Having the opportunity to go on these shoots and be able to learn about the special kind of reporting that lifestyle news is has been such an eye-opening opportunity.
To think that I only have four more weeks left of my internship just reminds me that I only have four more occasions to go on shoots with Symone. I have been having so much fun having the kind of creative freedom that I have been given to learn from on these types of shoots and kind of lifestyle reporting that I have been learning.
