My summer internship with WAVY has concluded! The past three months feel as though they’ve whirled by.
In terms of events, this blog period has largely been attending my daily schedule with the production team in the control room. (I feel like an expert teleprompter now, capable of tackling even the lengthiest of scripts.)
However, in regards to reflecting on this summer internship, I’ve had an eye-opening experience. I now understand more about not only control rooms, news stations and broadcast TV, but also careers and professional interactions. Interactions and working ought not to be kept too seriously or too intense (although an air of professionalism should always be kept, in my opinion). Careers begin in one place and can often lead to unexpected, other places.
This internship has helped me gain confidence in the ability to land a job with the skills and knowledge I now possess. This will undoubtedly be tested when I begin at whatever opportunity is presented, but I hardly feel any fear at that prospect; I feel rather excited about it and anticipate the challenge. My only wish is that I could have graduated a bit sooner to start down the career path.
I want to give a big thanks, firm handshake and adoring hug to everyone that helped create this unforgettable and indispensable experience.
“.. should continue onto greater things.”
