Kayla Gaskins

Kayla joined the WAVY News team in April 2018 and is excited to be part of the Hampton Roads community!  You can catch Kayla anchoring the weekend evening newscasts and reporting during the week.

Before coming to Virginia, Kayla worked as the morning reporter and primary fill-in anchor for WJHG in Panama City Beach. While at WJHG she won multiple Florida Associated Press awards including one for her coverage of Hurricane Irma.

Kayla is a proud alumni of the University of Florida’s College of Journalism with a degree in Telecommunications-News. Go Gators!

While at Florida she was a member of the University of Florida’s official dance team the Dazzlers who preformed at men’s and women’s basketball games as well as other university athletic events.

The summer before college graduation, Kayla accepted a paid internship with Gretchen Carlson at the Fox News Channel headquarters in New York City.  At the end of her internship she accepted a full time job offer as a PA for Fox Business’s Kennedy then went on to work as the personal assistant for Fox News Channel’s Greg Gutfeld.

When she’s not at work, Kayla enjoys going for runs along the water, perfecting her photography skills, or curling up with a really good book. This Florida girl loves snow and at least once every winter makes a trip to the ski slopes. She also loves spending time with her family and cheering on the Florida Gators!
