VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Another buoy has washed ashore in Hampton Roads, this time in Virginia Beach.
Lt. Cmdr. Hector Cintron with the U.S. Coast Guard told WAVY.com buoy #5 traveled about three miles from the Timble Shoals channel to the Chick’s Beach area.
The buoy will not cause any marine traffic problems.
Cintron said there is a cement sinker attached to the buoy with the chain. Crews are not sure what failed and caused the buoy to travel ashore.
Mariners will be alerted of the buoy and the Coast Guard will remove it when safe to do so.
