NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A small plane went off the runway at a local airport and ended up in a ditch Wednesday. The Cessna landed at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport around 2:15 p.m., according to airport spokesperson Jessica Wharton.
Wharton said the pilot was the only person on board the airplane, and he was not hurt. According to Wharton, the Cessna 182 landed normally, but the pilot said he felt something “off” with his airplane before it spun out into a ditch.
There was no disturbance to any commercial flights, Wharton said. Airport crews were working to tow the plane from the airfield.
