SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Motorists are encountering a power outage at the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel Friday.
Traffic Control Supervisor Mathie Chesson with the bridge-tunnel told WAVY.com contractors are performing maintenance on a breaking at the MMMBT. Currently, power is out at the south island.
Chesson said there is partial lighting both northbound and southbound. Crews have placed a sign instructing all motorists to turn their headlights on when entering the tunnel.
This was a scheduled event. Power is expected to be restored by 2 p.m.
Charges have been made in a domestic abuse investigation involving a 74-year-old woman in Elizabeth City.
