NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Undefeated Old Dominion on Saturday allowed Richmond to score the last 20 points of the game but held on to beat the Spiders 45-37 as they head into their bye week.
Taylor Heinicke didn't throw for 730 yards like last weekend, but still he did help his team get the win.
The sophomore quarterback threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns. His longest pass against the Spiders was 46 yards.
"Yeah it was a lot this week," said Heinicke referring to all the media attention he got for his game against New Hampshire. "We started out strong in the first and then kind of let up in the second half. We need to work on that."
The Monarchs now 5-0 are ranked no. 4 in the country in both the FCS coaches poll, and the SportsNetwork poll.
"This is where we wanted to be, we wanted to be 5-0. This is a perfect time for the break right now, so to have a week off is exactly what we need. We are going to get healed up and then we are going to get excited for Villanova in two weeks," said head coach Bobby Wilder.
