NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- The USS Forrestal Association plans tohonor more than 200 sailors who were killed or injured in 1967 in afire aboard the carrier.
The association's annual service will be held at 10:30 a.m.Friday at the Farrier Fire Fighting School in Norfolk. Speakerswill be a group of survivors who were on the Forrestal at the timeof the fire.
The Forrestal was operating off the coast of Vietnam in the Gulfof Tonkin on July 29, 1967 when the fire broke out, killing 134 andinjuring 67.
