PETERSBURG, Va. - Police have shot and killed a Dinwiddie County man while servinga federal search warrant.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar says 45-year-old JamesHicks was shot shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday as state policetroopers and members of the tactical team and special agents fromthe federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosiveswere serving the search warrant.
Molnar would not say why police were at the home in the 10000block of Halifax Road because the search warrant is under seal.
Hicks was shot inside the home and taken to VCU Medical Center,where he died from his injuries.
No law enforcement personnel were injured.
Molnar said police are investigating how many shots were firedand whether Hicks pulled a weapon.
