RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) - A fuel rate increase requested by Dominion Virginia Power has been approved by the State Corporation Commission.
The rate, which will go into effect July 1, will be 2.942 cents per kilowatt-hour, up 0.236 cents from the current rate of 2.706 per kilowatt-hour. The average residential customer can see an increase of $2.36 or 2.2 percent.
The fuel rate pays for the cost of fuel to generate electricity. It's reviewed annually by the SCC.
