Man charged after police chase, standoff in Va. Beach

WAVY News Staff - VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- A man is facing several charges following a hourslong barricade situation Sunday evening on North Streamline Drive in Virginia Beach.
According to Virginia State Police, a trooper stopped a 2000 Nissan Xterra for speeding on I-264 East. As the trooper attempted to gather information on the driver, the driver took off. The trooper then began a chase after the driver.

The chase ended when the driver stopped, fled to a shed on North Streamline Drive and then barricaded himself in a shed. Daniel Christopher Reynolds was taken into custody without after a standoff that lasted five hours.
Police say Reynolds, 44, surrendered around 11:45 p.m.

Viewer video sent to 10 On Your Side appears to show officers taking a man away from the scene Sunday night.
Officers evacuated homes Sunday night during the standoff. No one was injured, and residents were allowed back in their homes after the situation ended peacefully.
Reynolds has been charged with reckless driving by speed, driving while suspended, felony evade and elude, failure to obey red light and provide false identification. He is currently being held without bond.
