RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Democrat Terry McAuliffe's campaign is outpacing Republican rival Ken Cuccinelli in fundraising in Virginia's gubernatorial race.
McAuliffe's campaign reported on Monday that it raised more than $1.9 million in June. Attorney General Cuccinelli reported raising more than $1.1 million in the same time period.
McAuliffe also is leading Cuccinelli when it comes to the total amount of cash each campaign has available to spend. McAuliffe reported having more than $6 million in cash on hand. Cuccinelli reported having $2.7 million in cash on hand.
McAuliffe and Cuccinelli are running to replace Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell, who is barred from Virginia's Constitution from running for a second term.
