SOUTHERN SHORES, N.C. (WAVY) - A 52-year-old man has died after bodysurfing in Southern Shores Thursday.
M.W. Cooke with the Southern Shores Police Department said Kenneth Meade of McLean, Va. was injured while bodysurfing around 12:45 p.m. between 12th Avenue and 13th Avenue.
Southern Shores Police responded to the scene along with the Southern Shores Volunteer Fire Department, Dare County EMS, and Duck/Southern Shores Ocean Rescue.
Meade was given CPR on the beach and was rushed to the Outer Banks Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Norfolk Police are investigating the cause of death for male found unconscious on the beach.
Several local families could be out on the streets by the new year, if things don't improve at a Chesapeake shelter.
