ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) - Elizabeth City Investigators responded to the site of a shooting Wednesday after receiving a call from Albemarle Hospital regarding a patient with a gunshot wound around 11 p.m.
The victim, a 25-year-old man, was shot in his lower back after a brief fight in the area of Perry Street., according to police. Witnesses told police that a group of people met in the area for a pre-planned fight. At some point, the victim ran from the fight and suspects shot him.
A bystander later drove the victim to the hospital where he was treated for initial trauma before being airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was later listed there as being in stable condition, according to police.
Investigators learned through interviews Christopher Daniel Harrell, 27, Arago Carlos Harrell, 28, Anthony Tyrell Harris, 27, Corderra Marques Parker, 26, and Maurice Sentell Mallory, 25, were all at the fight.
After a separate investigation, ECPD Drug Agents stopped a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche on West Church Street a short while after the shooting and found Mallroy, Harris and Parker inside. All three were arrested in connection with the shooting.
Arago Harrell turned himself in to police Saturday morning, and his brother Christopher turned himself in Sunday morning. Both were charged with the attempted first degree murder.
Police are still searching for a sixth suspect, Jovan Morris.
