CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - Currituck County Sheriff Susan Johnson told WAVY.com Thursday that police in another state found Jennifer Kral, who was reported missing by her boyfriend June 24.
Johnson said when police found 24-year-old Kral, she told them she was not missing or being held against her will. She said she just wanted to be left alone.
Kral's boyfriend, James Beatty, reported her missing after she left his home at 7 a.m. June 23 and couldn't be contacted or found by him or by Kral's family or friends. Beatty said calls to her cell phone went straight to voicemail.
Kral's managers at Pet Co. in Red Mill Commons in Virginia Beach said she didn't show up to work either, something she had never done in the month she worked there.
Verizon Wireless told police Kral's cell phone was last used at 7:49 a.m. on June 23 near the area of Red Mill Commons.
Family and friends of Kral created a Facebook page to help get information out about her disappearance.
But apparently, Kral just left without telling anyone.
Johnson said that Kral leaving without giving anyone notice cost law enforcement time and resources trying to find her and the effort by many who organized searches in the Red Mill area for her.
Johnson said the latest search for Kral was near the Target off Upton Drive in Virginia Beach on Thursday, the day police found her.
