ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) - The ECSU Board of Trustees and an attorney will be holding a meeting Friday afternoon, regarding personnel matters.
According to Kesha Williams with Elizabeth City State University Media Relations, the meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the school's pharmacy complex. She said the "purpose of the meeting is to consult with our attorney and to discuss personnel matters."
During the past month, ECSU police chief was placed on administrative leave, stemming from the campus' handling of a complaint of assault and sexual battery.
Officials have not confirmed the specific case that led to the investigation. However, an ECSU woman was sexually assaulted twice by her dorm leader on campus, and it wasn't until city police stepped in that her alleged attacker, Anthony Butler, was arrested.
The State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the allegations of obstruction of justice and witness intimidation at ECSU.
Last week, Elizabeth City City Manager Rich Olson announced the city will provide one supervisor and two police officers each day, as well as an investigator who will work Monday through Friday during the day to the ECSU campus.
Charges have been made in a domestic abuse investigation involving a 74-year-old woman in Elizabeth City.
