HOPE MILLS, N.C. (AP) — Officials in Cumberland County are looking for a high school student who disappeared while swimming in a creek in Hope Mills.
A woman called late Wednesday afternoon to report a teen had gone under the water and did not resurface.
Sheriff's deputies said Wednesday night the search has become an effort to recover the teen's body.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said the search for 17-year-old Cameron Draughon resumed Thursday morning.
Family members and friends gathered at the creek Wednesday afternoon waiting for news from rescue workers.
