CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Investigators say a driver couldn't avoid hitting a man who was lying in a road in Charlotte.
Authorities say 50-year-old Michael Williams was killed around 10:15 p.m. Saturday after he was struck on a two-lane street on the west side of Charlotte.
Police say the driver told investigators, he saw something in the road and tried to avoid it, then stopped after he determined he had hit a person.
Authorities say it appears Williams had been drinking.
The crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
