CHICAGO (NBC) - It took more than 16 hours, but a 38-year-old man with muscular dystrophy didn’t let it stop him from completing the Chicago Marathon.
Maickel Melamed of Venezuela crossed the finish line around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning with a final time of 16 hours and 46 minutes.
“If you dream it, make it happen,” Melamed said. “Because your life is the most beautiful thing that could happen to you. So make the best of it and share the best of it."
Melamed was the last to cross the finish line with about 100 supporters surrounding him.
