RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Jim Webb says the Department of Defense has delivered on documents relating to staffing levels at various military commands.
As a result, the Virginia Democrat said Thursday he has ended his threat to block Senate consideration of defense nominations.
Webb sought the documents three months ago in hopes of shedding some light on Defense Secretary Robert Gates' decision in August to close the Joint Forces Command in Hampton Roads.
Gov. Bob McDonnell and other Virginia leaders have also sought more details on the closing. They're meeting with Gates next Tuesday.
