NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Monday afternoon, workers completed the first round of sea trials on the Navy's newest submarine.
The USS Minnesota returned to Huntington Ingalls' Newport News Shipbuilding following its "alpha sea trials," the first round of at-sea tests and evaluations.
The submarine will go through two more trials before it is released to the Navy.
Construction of the submarine began in February 2008.
