NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The U.S. Navy has agreed to pay $5,855 for not following storage tank testing requirements.
The settlement involves three 25,000-gallon underground storage tanks (UST) at a facility located at 7918 Blandy St. in Norfolk.
Each UST is required to be tested every three years to make sure it is not corroded and to prevent leaks. During a March 2011 inspection, inspectors discovered these tanks were last tested in 2004.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the Navy settlement Thursday.

Hampton Roads Transit customers could see higher fares to ride the bus, light rail and ferry.
Running a red light could cost you a hefty fine, even if an officer doesn't pull you over. Cameras are going up at intersections across Hampton Roads, and the most recent went live Monday in downtown Norfolk.
