ABOARD USS NICHOLAS (WAVY) - USS Nicholas recovered nearly 5,000 pounds of cocaine during Operation Martillo on June 4 near the coast of Colombia.
With the help of the Navy, the Coast Guard and the Colombian Navy, crews from USS Nicholas recovered 112 bales of cocaine weighing 4,910 pounds, the largest amount seized by USS Nicholas to date.
The street value of the drugs is estimated at more than $367 million.
According to the Navy, the crew of USS Nicholas has seized approximately 10,148 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $759 million since its deployment in January 2012.
