Man wanted in murder of woman found dead in Va. Beach turns himself in

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- The man wanted for the murder of a woman who was found dead in Virginia Beach turned himself in on Thursday, police say.

Zorobabel Matthan Griggs was wanted for murder in the death of 36-year-old Keisa Overby Staton, of Chesapeake.

Police found Staton shot to death inside a vacant apartment on Gourmet Way on June 12. Police aren't saying why Staton was in the apartment.

Staton is a mother of three and lived in Chesapeake. Her neighbors tell 10 On Your Side they remember seeing Griggs over at the home the last couple of weeks. They were relieved to hear that he was in custody.

According to court records for the seven cities, Griggs didn't have much of a criminal history -- only a couple traffic tickets. WAVY News wanted to hear his side of the story, but he declined our request of an on-camera interview.

Griggs is being held at Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond. He has a bond hearing set for June 27.
