NORFOLK, Va. - The guided missile destroyer USS James E. Williams deployed tothe sixth and fifth Fleet areas of operations Monday from NavalStation Norfolk as the lead element of the Bataan Amphibious ReadyGroup.
The Williams will conduct maritime security operations in theMediterranean Sea and Persian Gulf regions, and work withinternational maritime forces to ensure security and awareness inthe maritime domain.
The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer is commanded by Cmdr. PaulMarquis.
The USS James E. Williams has a crew of about 275 Sailors.
