VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - For a handful of Virginia Beach teachers, class was held inside a canoe Tuesday. But instead of leading a lesson, they were the ones forced to pay attention.
The teachers participated in the Virginia Beach Systemic Environmental Literacy Program where the Chesapeake Bay Foundation showed them how to teach their students about the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay. The day took them around Pleasure House Point and creek
The program is a joint effort with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Lynnhaven River NOW, Elizabeth River Project, Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center and Oyster Reefkeepers of Virginia.
