BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - A 32-year-old Virginia Beach man was killed and three other people were injured when a car crashed into a tractor-trailer on the shoulder of a northern New Jersey highway.
The crash on Interstate 78 eastbound in Hunterdon County occurred around 3:20 a.m. Saturday.
State police tell The Star-Ledger that the tractor-trailer's driver had stopped to assist another trucker whose rig crashed on the highway in Bethlehem Township. The car then collided with the second truck.
The 32-year-old Virginia Beach man riding in the car was killed. The car's driver, a 28-year New York City resident, and two passengers -- a 19-year-old woman from the Bronx, N.Y. and an unidentified man -- were all hospitalized in critical condition with head and internal injuries.
The drivers of the trucks were not injured.
