VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The 61-year-old man who went missing from a Virginia Beach nursing home Sunday afternoon was found safely at his brother's house in Norfolk.
Virginia Beach police were looking for Ashby Edwards, who was reported missing around 2:30 p.m. from Beacon Shores Nursing and Rehabilitation off Lynn Shores Drive.
Sam Justus, chief executive officer for the nursing home, confirmed Edwards was found safely in Norfolk.
Police said Edwards disappeared from the the facility at around 11:30 a.m. and had left his wheelchair behind. Edwards suffers from acute respiratory failure and dementia, according to police.
Norfolk Police are investigating the cause of death for male found unconscious on the beach.
Several local families could be out on the streets by the new year, if things don't improve at a Chesapeake shelter.
