VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police have identified the man who was killed Saturday in a crash involving a moped and a pickup truck in Virginia Beach.
Officers responded to a report of a crash around 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of Cleveland Street and Opal Avenue, according to Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department.
Investigators determined a moped, driven by 82-year-old Ralph Jones, was traveling westbound on Cleveland Street when the crash happened. Police said the driver of a Ford 150 came to a stop at the intersection, and proceeded to cross the street when the truck was hit by the moped.
Borman said Jones was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
