VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach fire crews battled a house fire early Monday morning.
Battalion Chief Amy Valdez with the Virginia Beach Fire Department told WAVY.com four people were inside the home in the 300 block of Gastonbury Drive when the fire sparked. All were able to get out of the home despite the smoke detector not working.
Valdez said the fire was contained to one room, though it looks to have started outside the home.
Later in the day the fire was ruled by investigators to be accidental, according to Valdez.
Norfolk Police are investigating the cause of death for male found unconscious on the beach.
