VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach man is dead and a woman is seriously hurt after a murder and attempted suicide.
Police said the woman shot and killed 50-year-old Andrew Bonelli in the 5700 block of Bayside Road around 6 p.m. Friday. Shortly after, they found the female shooter in a car nearby on 5500 block of Campus Drive. She also had gunshot wounds. Police believe they were self-inflicted.
Neighbors on Campus Drive said they were shocked to see officers approaching the crime scene Friday with guns drawn. Several residents said when they found out what happened they were shaken up.
WAVY.com also spoke to Boneli's sister in Florida and sister-in-law in New York. Both women said they were broken hearted about their brother's death, and they were trying to digest what happened.
Police are not releasing the name of the women they said shot Boneli. The woman remains in critical condition, according to Margie Hobbs with the Virginia Beach Police Department.
Hobbs said the two knew each other, and the case is being investigated as a homicide.
