VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach crews have contained a natural gas leak along Atlantic Avenue Monday morning.
Battalion Chief Patrick Seigh with the Virginia Beach Fire Department said around 11:45 a.m. that a construction crew struck a natural gas line during an excavation project on Atlantic Avenue between 81st and 83rd streets.
Atlantic Avenue from 81st Street to 83rd Street was closed and crews from Virginia Natural Gas responded to secure the leak.
The road reopened by 1:30 p.m.
