VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - There are new reports of more dead dolphins washing up on local beaches. A viewer sent WAVY.com a picture of a dead dolphin Sunday on Ft. Story in Virginia Beach. WAVY has received other reports over the weekend weekend, but has not been able to reach the Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response team for a final tally.
More than 120 dead dolphins have turned up on East Coast beaches since last month, most of them here in Virginia. Scientists are still investigating the deaths to see if they are linked to some type of virus.
