VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The men accused of robbing four people in the Lynnhaven Mall parking lot have been indicted .
On Nov. 3, two male suspects walking in the parking lot near JC Penney flagged down a car with four people in it around 8 p.m.
Police said the driver stopped when the men asked for a cigarette. The men immediately opened the back doors of the vehicle, produced handguns, and robbed the occupants of their cell phones and money. The suspects then ran from the scene.
The victims followed the suspects toward Lynnhaven Parkway when one of the suspects fired two shots at the victim's vehicle and kept running. The driver flagged down an officer and told the officer they were just robbed.
The officer broadcast the suspects' description and direction of travel.
Responding officers quickly apprehended the robbers and recovered the victims' property.
No one was hurt.
Police charged Roy Lee Jones, Jr., 22, of the 3600 block of Ship Chandler Wharf in Virginia Beach, and James O'Bryan Speight, 22, of the 200 block of Rosegate Place in Virginia Beach, with two counts of armed robbery and attempted armed robbery, four counts of use of a firearm, conspiracy and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Jones is also facing a maliciously shooting at an occupied vehicle charge.
