VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - When Lynnhaven Mall closes each night next week, construction workers will invade the building to begin a massive, multi-million dollar renovation.
The project will give Virginia Beach's largest mall a fresh interior and environment to enhance the shopping experience, according to Michael Harris, general manager of the mall. Planned renovations include upgraded restrooms and new flooring, lighting, decor and seating areas, fitting with a contemporary casual beach theme.
All major construction work will happen during hours when the mall is typically closed, and the renovation should be complete before the 2014 holiday season.
"We look forward to creating many exciting changes to our center in order to meet the expectations and needs of our shoppers and retailers," Harris said.
A routine traffic stop in Chesapeake resulted in a three-city pursuit Friday morning.
Wet weather is expected to move into the area over the weekend, forcing some areas to cancel or change their holiday events.
Four vehicles were involved in a crash on Route 17 in Gloucester Friday morning.
