VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A boil water notice has been lifted following a water main break on Laskin Road Monday.
The break occurred in the 800 block of Laskin Road near the 29th Street water tank and was discovered just before 5 a.m.
"We know the water main broke but I don't know any of the details or the cause. It's too soon to tell," utility worker James Sarver said.
There is no word what time the break actually happened, but a manager at Oceanaire Resort Hotel told WAVY.com guests were without water starting around 1 a.m.
When a WAVY.com crew arrived on scene, they found water shooting from the break. Crews with the City of Virginia Beach repaired the break around 8 a.m. and water was restored.
The City of Virginia Beach issued a boil water notice for customers located north of 24th Street, east of Birdneck Road and south of Fort Story. Bring the water to a rolling boil for about one minute before consuming.
Hot tap water should not be a substitute for boiling water. Turn off any automatic icemakers until the notice is lifted.
Water for toilet flushing, laundry and bathing is not affected. The boil notice only applies to water for drinking and cooking.
The Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities expected the boil notice to remain in effect until at least Wednesday morning, and lifted it around 5:30 a.m.

A manager with Buffalo Wild Wings told WAVY.com the health department asked him to close the restaurant as a result of the break.
