VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Nicholas Pierce, the father of the 4-year-old boy who was accidentally shot Feb. 9, was denied bond in court this morning.
Pierce, 26, appeared before a judge at Virginia Beach Juvenile and Domestic Court and is charged with felony child neglect.
When police arrived to Pierce's Buckhorn Place home last Thursday, the child was taken to Norfolk General Hospital where he was immediately rushed into surgery. Police say the child was shot in the hip with a large-caliber gun and they don't know who pulled the trigger .
Pierce remains in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.
The 4-year-old boy is still in critical condition.
This case remains under investigation by the Department's Homicide Unit with Detective Sean Coerse as the lead investigator.
