VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The director of Virginia Beach's Emergency Management Services Bruce Nedelka told WAVY.com how the Beach will prepare for big events post-Boston Marathon explosion.
"If it's a race or a large concert or whatever, we decide based on that," Nedelka said. "Based on those parameters, we determine what equipment we will bring to the scene, what equipment we will stage off-site, the numbers of personnel numbers of ambulances and how that equipment will be deployed throughout the event."
Nedelka said the Beach is prepared for a mass casualty event as well, with trucks that transport large groups of people.
Norfolk Police are investigating the cause of death for male found unconscious on the beach.
Nearly one year after a man was gunned down outside an apartment, Smithfield Police are asking for help in solving the case.
