VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The Original Cavalier on the Hill and the Cavalier Oceanfront hotels will close for the remainder of the year.
Professional Hospitality Resources told the hotels’ 100 associates of the closures Monday afternoon. The hotels will close to allow sequencing of renovation and development activities.
The Cavalier Oceanfront will reopen in May 2014, but will close again on Labor Day.
Paul H. van Leeuwen, President of Professional Hospitality Resources said a group of management associates is being retained to start up operations in the spring. The remaining workers were told they would immediately receive consideration for openings at other Professional Hospitality Resources properties in Virginia Beach.
They will also have priority for rehire in the spring at the Cavalier on the Oceanfront.
