SURRY, Va. (WAVY) - A test of the Surry Nuclear Power Station was conducted on September 11.
Beginning at 11:10 a.m. a three-minute tone was sounded by 71 sirens in Williamsburg, Newport News and Surry, James City, York and Isle of Wight counties.
The tests occur quarterly on the second Wednesdays of March, June, September and December. It was just a coincidence that this year's test fell on September 11.
