SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Up to five Suffolk businesses were without water Friday morning while repairs were made to a water main.
The Suffolk Department of Public Utilities Line Maintenance Division shut off the water in the 100 block of Church Street between West Constance Road and Western Avenue starting at 9 a.m. Crews were making repairs to a water main leak.
According to the City of Suffolk, the work was completed before 11 a.m. and water service was restored.
A company has been hired to complete the repairs to the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge on the Outer Banks, but how long those repairs will take remains unknown.
Drivers traveling between Hatteras Island and the mainland were forced to use an emergency ferry Wednesday, following the sudden closure of the Bonner Bridge Tuesday.
State officials say construction on a new Bonner Bridge has been delayed for years because of a legal battle with an environmental group.
