SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Suffolk Fire and Rescue has a fire at the Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, Inc. plant under control.
Diana Klink, with the City of Suffolk, said fire crews were called to the plant, located at 1370 Progress Road, at 3:51 p.m.
The plant was evacuated and all employee were accounted for.
Klink said the fire was restricted to the dust collection area of the plant. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Chuck Gosstrom, the Senior VP of Operations said, "No one was injured in the fire. The plant is expected to be back to full production by the end of the week and workers scheduled for the second shift were asked to come in this evening."
Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, Inc. is based in Portsmouth at 200 Port Centre Pkwy.
A company has been hired to complete the repairs to the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge on the Outer Banks, but how long those repairs will take remains unknown.
Drivers traveling between Hatteras Island and the mainland were forced to use an emergency ferry Wednesday, following the sudden closure of the Bonner Bridge Tuesday.
State officials say construction on a new Bonner Bridge has been delayed for years because of a legal battle with an environmental group.
