SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Suffolk police have arrested a mother and son wanted in connection with a recent shooting.
Police were called to the 300 block of Wellons Street at 10:40 p.m. Saturday for the report of someone in the street who had likely been shot.
Trovias Mayfield, 20, was rushed to Sentara Obici Hospital then air-lifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he remains in ICU in stable condition.
Investigators asked for the public's help to locate suspects Taquan Burton, 19, and his mother, Gwendolyn Burton-Green, 40, on Monday.
On Tuesday at 9:45 a.m., police arrested Burton-Green, and her son turned himself in later in the afternoon when he learned of his mother's arrest.
Both were charged with shooting in commission of a felony, use or display of firearm in commission of a felony, malicious shooting, and aggravated malicious wounding. They are being held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
