SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Five people were displaced by a house fire in the Bristol Shores neighborhood Wednesday morning.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a fire in the 6400 block of Ashmeade Court around 6:16 a.m.
According to a news release from the City of Suffolk, firefighters saw heavy fire on the second floor of the home when they arrived. The family was outside of the house.
Crews were able to get the fire under control by 7 a.m.
Five people, two adults and three children, were displaced by the fire. They are being assisted by the Red Cross.
One child was evaluated at the scene and released. No one else was hurt.
The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Norfolk Police are investigating the cause of death for male found unconscious on the beach.
Several local families could be out on the streets by the new year, if things don't improve at a Chesapeake shelter.
