SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Drivers will soon notice a speed limit change on Bridge Road in Suffolk.
The Suffolk Department of Public Works Traffic Engineering Division recently completed a study of the Bridge Road (Route 17) corridor. Between the Chesapeake city line and Isle of Wight County line, the road is seven miles long.
Right now, the speed limit on Bridge Road varies between 45 miles per hour and 55 miles per hour.
Based on the study, the Department of Public Works and the Suffolk Police Department recommended the entire section be posted at 45 miles per hour.
The change takes effect on Nov. 15, 2013.
Signs will be posted to notify drivers of the change in speed limit.
