YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - A rabid raccoon was found in York County Friday.
Gary Lois with the Peninsula Health District said that a raccoon in the Water Fowl Drive area of York County tested positive for rabies.
The sick raccoon was found in a residential yard with a dog and was sent to a lab in Richmond for examination where it tested positive for the rabies virus.
The District ask that anyone with information about the raccoon's exposure to other creatures or people is asked to contact the Health Department at 757-594-7340 or Animal Control at 757-890-3601.
